![]() With local co-op mode, you can't sign into multiple accounts like you could in the Xbox 360 version you can only split up the main PSN ID into quarters. Speaking of friends, you can crash castles with the favorite people on your friends list either locally or online. Since it's designed to be a cooperative game, it's hard to scold The Behemoth for making it incredibly difficult to conquer on your own. The biggest issue in trying to take on levels solo is that multiple enemies can assault you with ranged attacks, making it difficult to even stand up before being knocked down again. Though it can be done, single-player assaults are more frustrating and less enjoyable than teaming up with other people. The Behemoth is known for making difficult games, most notably Alien Hominid, and that reputation stands true if you try and take on the campaign by yourself. It's fun to battle with a small animal hovering around you, especially if it's Rammy the ram who will ram nearby enemies for you. Each animal provides a different boost and comes complete with an endearing name, so Meowburt the kitty increases your agility skill while Owlet the owl can retrieve food items for you. There are 28 creatures (the two DLC animals from the Xbox 360 version are now included) scattered across the lands, and it's up to you to find them. Kicking butt and taking names.Īnimal orbs are probably my favorite thing in Castle Crashers because they're just so damn cute. The urge to find a better, cooler weapon never dies, so you can expect to search the many hidden crevices of the game until you find something that suites your style. A regular sword might take away a point of Strength but add a point to your Agility, so you'll need to make the call on what traits are more important to you. Every weapon will affect your stats either positively or negatively. You can find new weapons several ways some will be obviously given to you and others you'll need to dig up or purchase at a store. On your quest to save the princesses you'll discover two other tools to help you: melee weaponry and animal orbs. ![]() You can build up your character however you'd like, but that's not the only way you can customize. As you progress, you'll garner more skill points to divide amongst four traits: Strength, Magic, Defense, and Agility. Armed with magic and steel (or maybe a stick), you'll hack your way through mounds of enemies, gain experience points, and level up. ![]() The four starting knights wield magic powers that are differentiated by armor color - Red has lightning, Green has poison, Orange has fire, and Blue has ice. To counteract the adorableness of Paladin's creations, the game includes lots of potty humor and gore-filled battles. His unique art style really brings the environments to life, and even the most ferocious monsters are still pretty cute. From slip-n-slide icy terrains to sandy deserts, it's clear that every area was crafted with care by the Behemoth's resident artist, Dan Paladin. The best part of Castle Crashers is exploring the world - there are tons of levels that look and play completely differently.
